About the Role
We're looking for a PHP Developer / Technical Engineer who doesn't just write code - someone who understands the systems behind it, enjoys untangling technical problems, and takes real ownership of what they build. This isn't a narrow "ticket-closer" role - it's a hybrid position for someone who's equally comfortable deep in a WooCommerce plugin, debugging a payment webhook, or helping shape a Laravel CRM's roadmap.
We're hiring on behalf of a well-established, globally operating fintech company looking for someone to join their growing technical team. You'll work across both new and existing projects, contributing to a WooCommerce ecosystem and a Laravel-based CRM - with real input into how things get built, not just how they get maintained.
What You'll Do
Development & Integration
- Develop and maintain custom WordPress/WooCommerce plugins
- Integrate payment providers, APIs, and webhooks
- Support and improve the Laravel CRM
- Use AI coding tools where helpful - but you review, test, and take full responsibility for the resulting code
Infrastructure & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot application, integration, network, and server issues
- Assist with deployments and AWS/VPS maintenance
- Dig into problems others might avoid - you don't wait for someone else to figure it out
Ownership & Process
- Take responsibility for the code you ship, whether you wrote it or reviewed it
- Flag technical debt, risks, or inefficiencies proactively, even outside your immediate scope
- Contribute to technical decisions, not just execution - you're expected to have opinions and back them up
Who You Are
- You have solid PHP and OOP fundamentals, with real experience in WordPress and WooCommerce
- You're comfortable with MySQL, Git, REST APIs, and webhooks - not just in theory, but in production
- You have working knowledge of Linux, HTTP, DNS, SSL/TLS, and basic web security practices
- You're a strong debugger - you enjoy the process of finding out why something broke, not just patching it
- You communicate clearly in English (B2+) - technical discussions shouldn't get lost in translation
- You're proactive by default - you'd rather investigate and propose a fix than wait to be told what to do
- You take high ownership: you treat production code as if your name is on it, because it is
- You're motivated by solving real problems well, not just by ticking off tasks
- You're comfortable using AI tools to move faster, but you never outsource your judgment - you review and own everything that ships
Nice to Have
- AWS experience
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines
- Prior experience developing WooCommerce plugins from scratch
Why This Role
This is a role for someone who wants to build something real, not just maintain what already exists. You'll work on systems that power an international fintech business - where uptime, security, and correctness actually matter. If you're the kind of engineer who can't help but investigate a weird bug even when no one's watching, or who pushes back when something feels architecturally wrong - this is your role.
