The Senior PHP Developer will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of backend features for a high-load live mobile RPG.
Development is performed across two main backend environments:
- PHP Laravel API (Primary Stack)
- Nakama Game Server TypeScript runtime
The developer participates in the full feature development lifecycle, from backend logic and API integration to testing, code review, performance optimization, and documentation.

Implement backend features in the Nakama Game Server TypeScript runtime
Write and maintain unit tests for all new modules
Participate in TypeScript and Laravel code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
Profile and optimize hot-path RPC handlers
Documentation
Document public RPC contracts and storage schemas as features are implemented
Required SkillsLaravel / PHP (Primary Stack)
- Ability to independently develop migrations, Eloquent models, API controllers, and Artisan commands without constant guidance.
Backend Development
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
TypeScript

Strong typing practices.

Comfortable with OOP patterns, functional patterns, and async/await.

Understanding of asynchronous programming pitfalls in a single-threaded runtime environment.
Database & PostgreSQL
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, efficient SQL query design, transactions, and basic locking concepts.
Nice to Have
The following experience is considered a plus:
- Any game development or live-service game experience.
- Experience building or maintaining an A/B testing system.
- Experience writing and reviewing unit and integration tests for TypeScript game logic.
- Experience integrating push notification services (OneSignal / Firebase / similar services)
